Hello everyone. I saw the ongoing vandalism through IRC and blocked the IP for 1 day. Sorry if any inconvenience is caused. Thank you.--BRPever (talk) 23:59, 10 February 2020 (UTC)

I have blocked Special:Contributions/ as a global sysop action for continued vandalism. They also created three pages that I have tagged for speedy deletion. Thanks, --DannyS712 (talk) 05:42, 6 October 2020 (UTC)

Deleted, thanks. --Minorax (talk) 05:43, 6 October 2020 (UTC)

I have seen that images adding images is encouraged to help users understand. I added an image to "absolute" and was told it was not needed. I'm confused. Are images wanted?

@Computermice: Images are definitely wanted, but the image added doesn't explain the word "absolute" clearly enough. Generally, it's easier to add images for nouns and verbs. --Minorax (talk) 13:41, 2 December 2020 (UTC)

The image is in support of the sentence "The sergeant has absolute power. His soldiers must obey him." which was also added and kept. The image clearly shows the meaning of absolute in that sentence. I agree nouns and verbs are easiest to illustrate. Illustrating more abstract meanings is important as the meaning of those words (like "absolute") are only supported by more words. If the reader who prefers simple English is in need of clear meaning it comes more from the image than from . Meaning is in the object, event or situation. Words are simply a sound/print representation of that meaning. I hope you will reconsider accepting the image I offered. More like it are needed to clarify/represent meaning clearly for those in need of simple English, including children. This wiktionary could become the go-to dictionary for children if it were image-supported. The main reason children and beginning language learners do not use a dictionary is because they don't read/understand the target language well enough to get the meaning of a word from more words.

I agree that the image was not a clear illustration of absolute. Images can be great, but they are often not helpful.
On another note, if you would like to continue this discussion, please, sign your posts using --~~~~ and stick to one account. It appears that you are using multiple accounts, which is called sockpuppetry and can get you blocked or banned.--Brett (talk) 20:24, 4 December 2020 (UTC)

2601:444:280:5E40:2C05:7855:BD2F:905C (talk · changes) keeps on making bad pages on hurricane seasons. These don't appear to be dictionary entries. They were also blocked on Simple English Wikipedia for their bad changes. Belwine (talk) 19:19, 15 January 2021 (UTC)

Requested GS action and was blocked 1 day by GS Hasley. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 20:33, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
Thanks :) Belwine (talk) 20:37, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
For future such situations, and there seems to be lack of local to act, the fastest way to stop such vandals is to post a note to meta:GS/R for them to act. If you have irc you can also hop into #wikimedia-gs to seek help. @Belwine:. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 20:46, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
Ok, will do in future. Thanks again. Belwine💬📜 20:46, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
