Requests for adminship[change]

User:Hydriz[change]

Hi guys, I am Hydriz, and I am a rather frequent editor of the Simple English Wiktionary. This is my second time I am requesting for this right, but during my first request I was just a rather new editor. Now, I have quite significantly improved this Wiktionary since then, and I hope to bring it further by requesting for adminship on this wiki. While there is rather little vandalism on this wiki, but most of the current admins are quite busy with other Wikimedia work, so I would like to volunteer to help out.

Thanks! --Hydriz (talk) 13:34, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Closed as successful - Clear consensus. -Barras talk 11:58, 13 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

User:Purplebackpack89[change]

I think we could use another mop because, well, quick deletions aren't getting deleted, er, quickly (often it's more than 24 hours). I believe I have the requisite experience: I have tagged pages for deletion, moved pages, fixed existing pages, and written new pages. I'm been an autopatroller for 21 months. Purplebackpack89 22:13, 16 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  1. Oppose Sorry but I don't think this is the right time for you to have a mop. Yeah it's good that you have autopatroller for 21 months. But after looking over your contributions I don't think you are eligible for this. An admin must be active in a wiki. But you were never so active. You've made just 40 edits in 2013. So please be active before getting the mop. Hope you understand me. --Pratyya (Hello!) 12:36, 17 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  2. Oppose: Probably a few thousand changes in a year would be enough for you to catch the mop, mostly to content. Also, a user has got to do a lot of work before becoming an administrator (even if you help here to delete entries quickly, protecting pages, etc). That's what all our other administrators did before they applied, so perhaps you could do it too. Yes, it is a lot of work, and a lot of trust. I would suggest come back in a couple of years for applying. Sorry. --~ curtaintoad ~~ talk ~ 05:23, 18 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  3. Two years is way too much for reapplying, in my opinion. Administratorship is not a big deal, but the candidate has to demonstrate a constant activity and a deep knowledge of policies. Your edit count is also a bit low, so I have to oppose here. LlamaAl (talk) 21:39, 20 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  4. Oppose Has a history of combative behavior on en.wikipedia, and indefinitely blocked from simple.wikipedia. --Rschen7754 07:21, 21 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  5. Weak support. Perhaps try again in a few months later? Jianhui67 (talk) 04:49, 22 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Candidate response to concerns raised[change]

Please confine criticism to actions on this particular project. This isn't a Wikipedia, and nobody's had problems with my edits here, so what goes on anywhere else is hardly germane. I'd also note that Rschen has a mere eight edits on this project, three of which are to this page.

As for those of you who think I haven't done enough, I ask, "How comfortable are you with the fact that quick deletions don't happen quickly?" Purplebackpack89 02:02, 22 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Purplebackpack89, I have no problem seeing you with the mop. But the fact is admin should be active. But you made just 40 edits in 2013 before you request. That's not indicate that you are active. I don't think you need a few thousand more edit. Come here after couple of months. Be active here. Do some speedy deletion request, revert some edits and create some good entries. Then I'll be happy to support you. But if you ask me now then again I'll say sorry. Hope you understand. And answering your question I'll say yes it uncomfortable when quick deletions don't happen quickly. But that's not mean that we can give that mop to anybody. That candidate should have the quality of becoming an admin. If the candidate doesn't have those qualities then it's better being uncomfortable with the quick deletions. About Rschen's vote I don't think there's a rule that a user with 5 contribs can't vote. If there's any rule then Rschen's vote should must be removed and he'll get a note about this. --Pratyya (Hello!) 06:47, 22 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
People can oppose for whatever reasons they want; perhaps it's best to leave it to the closing bureaucrat to determine if a vote is valid or not. --Rschen7754 06:42, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Also, I have 20+ edits here, according to [1]; I'm also a local rollbacker. --Rschen7754 06:43, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
FYI, you link appears to be broken. And when I said that, I counted your contributions, and you had eight live edits. Maybe you have a few deleted edits I didn't know about. But it's only fair for me to ask why you think Simple Wikipedia is germane to my editing here. This project is different from Simple Wikipedia, and very few people have had any problems with the way I do things here, beyond the occasional misplaced period or other typo. Purplebackpack89 16:38, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Closed as not successful - I've been watching this over the week and looking at the comments here there is absolutely no consensus and leaving this open any longer to gain more input will most likely not change the result. Feel free to re-apply here at any time in the future. Regards, -Barras talk 19:51, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Requests for bureaucratship[change]

User:Hydriz[change]

After considering for quite a while, I decided to put forth my application to be a bureaucrat for this wiki. Although the number of entry creations has decreased, but I regularly check this wiki, remove spam and patrol new pages to keep it active. Although there isn't much of a need for more bureaucrats, but I don't think it would harm to have one more. I admit I did accidentally abuse my powers once, but that was because I originally thought that administrators could grant bot flags then, and it was indeed one lesson learnt.

Thanks! --Hydriz (talk) 15:15, 17 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Why do you need to be a bureaucrat? πr2 (talk • changes) 03:07, 26 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
So that I can help out in cases where there is no one available to respond to a rename request. --Hydriz (talk) 04:06, 27 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Are there ever such rename requests? Or have any been missed? It's not like I'm very active here, but I guess I notice most such stuff here. Something I only just noticed is, that this RfB is already open for more than seven days and there are no support/oppose comments here. I think there's no written rule here, but without about 3 to 5 supporting votes, bureacrat flags should probably not being handed out. (Personal opinion and what we (stewards) usually do when such rights are being requested on meta.) It's not that I care much... but still. -Barras talk 22:45, 28 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
There isn't many rename requests or any other requests that need bureaucrats on this wiki, but I don't see how having an additional bureaucrat would cause any harm, given the fact that I have been an administrator for more than a year already. Nonetheless, I would close this request as unsuccessful as an administrator myself. --Hydriz (talk) 13:52, 1 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Note after closure: renaming abilities will probably be limited to stewards and/or another "global renamer" group after SUL is finalized (« It will now only be possible for accounts to be renamed globally[...] »). πr2 (talk • changes) 02:02, 2 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I would like to oppose this user gaining bureaucratship at this point in time. Razorflame 01:03, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
This should probably be closed as unsuccessful at this time. It's been going on for over two months. Razorflame 23:54, 3 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Quoting Hydriz: "Nonetheless, I would close this request as unsuccessful as an administrator myself." It just hasn't been archived. -Barras talk 11:15, 4 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Requests for rollback[change]

Tdxiang[change]

I am an administrator on the Simple English Wikipedia and I patrol recent changes via IRC. Although I may not have edited here for a long time, I hope that the tools will come useful when I see vandalism here. Thank you.--Tdxiang (talk) 06:58, 9 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Do stay and edit on this wiki! --Hydriz (talk) 08:46, 9 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Orashmatash[change]

I'm a sysop on the Simple English Wikipedia and have also made some undos here. I monitor the RC feed on #cvn-simplewikis which monitors here and SimpleWP so I think rollback would be helpful for quickly reverting vandalism when I see it. -Orashmatash (talk) 16:58, 30 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Riley Huntley[change]

I would like to request rollback. I am currently a rollback on En.wikipedia. Thank you very much. Riley Huntley (talk) 04:38, 12 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much for taking time to help out on this Wiktionary. However, it would be great if more edits can be made by you so that we can deem that you can really help out here (especially so that you didn't contribute much to the Simple English Wikipedia too). Cheers! --Hydriz (talk) 13:24, 12 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I would be glad to make more edits but I thought a large number of edits wasn't a requirement if you are a rollback on another project. Either way, I plan to make more edits when I get more time. Thank you for your understanding. Riley Huntley (talk) 19:31, 12 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Sure! I would be more than welcome to grant you the rollback right once you made more edits. :) --Hydriz (talk) 10:47, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I hate to discriminate against a new user, but I see that you only got ~30 edits outside of the English Wikipedia. I would prefer it if you can gain a bit more vandalism fighting first before we can grant you the rollback right here. Cheers. --Hydriz (talk) 15:45, 8 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I'm a rollbacker in en-wiki and simple wiki and made hundreds of reverts. I find this place very interesting and hope to contribute to it. I would find the rollback button very useful. Thanks, Strike Eagle (talk) 17:05, 28 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Y Done Thanks for volunteering. Please remember to use rollback only for clear-cut cases of vandalism. In all other situations it is better to use the "undo" button with an explanatory edit summary. Tempodivalse [talk] 22:41, 17 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

User:LlamaAl[change]

Hi. I'm a rollbacker in four Wikimedia projects (my SUL). I like this place and have decided to contribute here in a regular basis, so having rollback rights here to help would be great. Thanks in advance. LlamaAl (talk) 02:38, 16 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I'm a rollbacker at en wiki, bn wiki, simple english wiki. For confirmation see My SUL. I'm also a member of Small Wiki Monitoring Team. So I do anti-vandalism work in Global Wikis. Also I have 16000+ global edits and I beleive 9000+ is anti-vandal edit. So I'm an experienced anti-vandal editor and know what is vandalism and not vandalism. So I think I won't do bad with this rollback right of mine. Thanks and Cheers Pratyya (Hello!) 09:38, 1 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

User:Raninghai[change]

Hi. I know its early, and there were a few requests that went sucessfull and they were also new. But I would like to request rollback so I can undo a lot of bad and unapproved changes to SEW. I do not see anything wrong with me becoming rollbacker. And what I think is important is that if I misuse the tools. I have decided that I am capable of having the rollback feature. Adding another thing, when I am active. There is nearly nobody around. Rani Rani

Considering your recent problems on simpleWP which resulted in you being banned there, I think it is better not to grant any right just now. I would like to wait some more weeks before granting such tools. Reverts aren't needed to often anyway. In short: N Not done -Barras talk 16:27, 14 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You don't, all you have now is autopatrolled.  Hazard-SJ  ✈  01:06, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Nice to see you here again. :) πr2 (talk • changes) 02:01, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Y Done Just granted rights on grounds that you are quite trusted with the rights. I don't think there is much formatting change since you left in 2009, so autopatrolled is kept. Welcome back! User:Jianhui67[change]

Hi admins, I am requesting for the rollback right here because it would be useful for me when I come across any vandalism here. I have created a few entries on this wiki and I think this is a nice wiki to contribute to. I am a rollbacker on en-wiki, simple-wiki, Commons and Wikidata. I am rather experienced in counter vandalism and I would know what is vandalism and what is not vandalism. I believe I would do good with rollback. Thanks! I have in the past had this right on the English Wikipedia (although I admit to being blocked and banned at the moment) and I believe that a second chance to use this right along with the tools would allow me to demonstrate ability to use this properly by not rushing unlike my bad history on Wikipedia. Kiko4564 (talk) 02:17, 18 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, thank you for your interests here. However, you are currently banned on three different wikis mainly due to the abuse of alternate accounts. Even if I ignore the block on the English Wikipedia, your ban on the Simple English Wikipedia already proves sufficient grounds that we cannot grant you the rollback flag here. Do stay and contribute positively here instead and earn your rollback right through merit in the future. Cheers. --Hydriz (talk) 14:11, 23 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Requests for autopatroller[change]

User:Purplebackpack89[change]

I believe I have met the requirements, and even though I only create sporidically, I am still one of the more active creators here. I also have autopatroller or patrol rights on SEWp and EnWP Purplebackpack89 (talk) 03:08, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I would Weak support this request. You do create nice articles, although the definitions lack stuff like {{uncountable}}, etc and the occasional lack of full stop (.). If possible, do click on the "Green" links to create plural pages and stuff like that. We don't have a tracking category for that now, though it might come in the future. --Hydriz (talk) 09:18, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Not (yet) done. I just looked at some of your recent creations and still had to fix them. Patroller right here is not for the vandalism point, but especially for a correct formatting, which isn't completely correct in your case. Sorry, but feel free to ask again in a bit. -Barras (talk) 15:18, 10 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I would be the one that will review your request. Here are some pointers that I have found:
  1. You don't seem to check the English Wiktionary for the existence of pronunciation files. I had to do it instead. [2].
  2. Although it is not a requirement stated, but it would be good if you were to add images to obvious definitions (especially nouns).
  3. Also, it isn't an important requirement, but for nouns that have no plural, you got to know the syntax to remove the plural. [3].
Don't feel very discouraged about my critical comments. However, it is to ensure that readers of the Simple English Wiktionary understand thoroughly what a definition means. You are already more than halfway to becoming an autopatroller here, but as much as possible, do make entries more complete. Thanks! --Hydriz (talk) 03:28, 17 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Your recent edits looks good, so I have decided to grant you the autopatrol right. I would still be watching you though, so keep up with the good work! Good luck! :) --Hydriz (talk) 08:52, 9 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
