Hello, Yotcmdr, and welcome to the Simple English Wiktionary!

We hope you are happy editing here. Some helpful pages to begin with are Wiktionary:Community Portal, Wiktionary:Useful, Help:Contents, Wiktionary:Rules, and Wiktionary:How to edit.

If you want to talk with other members or ask a question, you can visit Wiktionary:Simple talk. Administrators can also help you with more difficult problems. You can also ask me for help. The best way to do that is to leave a message on my talk page. Just remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing "~~~~" (four tildes) at the end of your words.

Good luck and happy editing! Razorflame 20:37, 9 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Where to start

[change]

Welcome and thank you for the offer! As Razorflame said, the Wiktionary:BNC spoken freq 02 list would be very helpful.--Brett 00:15, 10 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Ok, thanks, I'll start now! Yotcmdr 10:49, 10 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
Glad to see you editing here on this project :). Cheers, Razorflame 14:23, 10 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

background

[change]

Hi there, Yotcmdr. If you are going to change or add to the tenses for one form of the word, could you go through the other forms of the word and add the tense to that entry as well? An example of this would the you adding the verb tense to the entry for background, but you didn't add the verb tense to background. Thanks, Razorflame 14:32, 10 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Mhhh, yes, I'll have to check from now on. Thanks for pointing it out, Yotcmdr 14:34, 10 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yep, no problems ). Let me or any other active user on here know if you need anymore help as we are always available to help you :). Cheers, Razorflame 14:36, 10 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
Ok, if I need help I'll know were to ask. Yotcmdr 14:44, 10 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Be more thourough

[change]

Hiya. Could you please be sure to add all of the appropriate tenses to the entries that you create, please? I went and had to add verb tenses to about 4 or 5 of the entries you've already written and Brett had to add an adjective tense to noted. Please be thourough in your entry writing in the future. Thanks, Razorflame 15:48, 10 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi again. I'm sorry, I'm only adding plurals atm. I'm not using en, so I don't always know if it's also a verb, an adjective... And I thought that's the point of wiki: you make the article, and content gets added. Tell me if you want me to add if they are also adjectives or verbs, and I'll do so. Yotcmdr 15:52, 10 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
I understand what you are saying, however, wouldn't it be better if you were to add the tenses that should be in the entry when you first create the page then having someone else have to go through the entry that you create and add the tense? Good work so far, by the way! Razorflame 15:55, 10 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. I guess It is better to add everything. I'll do so from now on. Yotcmdr 15:56, 10 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yep, no problem! Please let me know if I am being to en:WP:BITEY for you, and I can fix my behavior :). Cheers, Razorflame 16:00, 10 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
You know me RF, no need to worry about beeing bitey with me. I prefer it when people tell me what is right and what isn't. Yotcmdr 16:02, 10 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
Of course. The problem is that I haven't seen you very much lately, so I kind of forgot that you are one of those people that likes it when others tell you as it is. Razorflame 16:03, 10 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
Doesn't matter, you know now. =D Yotcmdr 16:06, 10 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yep. As I said before, it is great to see another active user here on this site :). Cheers, Razorflame 16:07, 10 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, I seem to be enjoying editing here, so you'll probably see me around quite often. Yotcmdr 16:09, 10 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

(unindenting) Because I am only 1 of 4 active administrators here on this site, you'll also probably be seeing me around here quite often as well :). Cheers, Razorflame 16:13, 10 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Good ;) Yotcmdr 16:14, 10 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hope you don't mind

[change]

Hi there. I hope you don't mind that I fixed up a little bit of grammar in your userpage :). Cheers, Razorflame 16:31, 10 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Lol, no problem. I haven't made a proper user page yet anyway. Yotcmdr 16:33, 10 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Plurals

[change]

Are you using the accelerated method for adding plurals?--Brett 21:35, 24 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

What is this method? I'm only writing articles normally. Yotcmdr 21:36, 24 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
Check it out--Brett 21:40, 24 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
I'm not using it, no. I just do it by hand. Stays quite fast. Also, I'm not really very good with .js. I wouldn't like to start and remove content from all pages! I think I'll continue this way for the moment (I'm of to bed soon), but I might look into your method later. Thanks, Yotcmdr 21:42, 24 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Plurals and verb tenses of words that don't have definitions

[change]

Please don't create plural pages and verb tense pages of words that don't have definitions yet. Some examples you created include: ‎adventures, ‎adaptors, adapters, and ‎aches. Those pages don't really help anyone and as such can (and will) be deleted. If you would like to create definitions for adventure, adaptor, adapter, ache, etc, please feel free to then create the plurals and/or various verb tenses. But please don't do them in reverse. It would be one thing to do it and then come back and create the headword, but since it has been over a week since you created the plurals, it is clear that is not your intention. Thank you. · Tygrrr... 17:05, 4 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
