Native
[change]Hi, Tenmei
I apologize for not giving a reason for the rollback. The purpose of a dictionary is to define words and illustrate how they are used. The sentence about Australian aboriginals is merely meant to fulfill that illustrative purpose, not to give information about Australian natives. The additional example about Canada, using essentially the same syntax as the existing example, doesn't add anything related to the meaning or the way the word is used. It also introduced other words that are likely to be unknown (Inuit and Métis). Finally, there are native people around the world, not just in Canada and Australia, and we do not need to talk about each of them any more than we need to have examples for every different kind of table. That is the job of the encyclopedia. If you would care to add an example that illustrates a particular way that native is used in Canada that is different, or generally a different syntactical role (e.g., predicate complement), or a significant collocation, and you can do so using simple English vocabulary, that would be most welcome.--Brett (talk) 20:36, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
