Hello, Pmlinediter, and welcome to the Simple English Wiktionary!
We hope you will be happy editing here. Some helpful pages to begin with are Wiktionary:Community Portal, Wiktionary:Useful, Help:Contents, Wiktionary:Rules, and Wiktionary:How to edit.

Good luck and happy editing!--Brett 12:07, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
Your edits
Thank you for adding beggar and accessibility. I've formatted them to match our style. Please, have a look.--Brett 12:08, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
- I am trying to learn about Wiktionary. I'll be semi-active here but will come here at least once a day. Pmlineditor 11:48, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for adding editor. If possible, consider adding example sentences using some of the more common words from the following list. Also, consider adding the different senses of editor that those examples suggest.

You can produce a similar list with different words here.--Brett 17:01, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
- Ok, I'll try once I get time. I edit at seWP, enWP and meta and so... don't get much time. Plus, I've a PVGA at seWP, so I'll be more active here and well, edit the pages. Regards, Pmlineditor 10:12, 25 July 2009 (UTC).
Simple wikibooks closed?
I can't find anything suggesting that this site is closed? What makes you think it is?--Brett 10:52, 18 July 2009 (UTC)
- Tell me, do you look at meta? Just go there and see. :P Pmlineditor 11:37, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

Synonyms
Could you please comment here?--Brett 13:19, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
Related words
Thanks for your help on this. Related words should be derivationally related. And the heading should be simply "Related words" not "Related words and phrases".--Brett 18:43, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
- Ah, thanks. Pmlineditor Talk 08:18, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
Waiting
Nice catch on waiting!--Brett 11:50, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
- Haha, yeah. We seem to tag many present participles as adjectives. I'd try to fix those. Pmlineditor Talk 11:51, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
Links in examples
Generally, example sentences should not need or have links in them, and if there is the unusual case where it is needed, it should be to a word here, not on simple.wiki.--Brett 16:42, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, ok. Actually, I remember seeing that the word was a bit complex and wasn't here and so I linked to Simple. Thanks and regards, Pmlineditor Talk 16:43, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
Thanks!
Hi! Just a quick note to say thanks for copyediting behind me - i'm still learning the ropes of Simple English. --Skenmy 10:25, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
- You're welcome. You're doing great work here and I hope that you continue to help us with your contributions. Regards, Pmlineditor Talk 10:28, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
See also
Please avoid "see also" unless there is a compelling reason. It shouldn't just be a list of things that occurred to the editor.--Brett 17:36, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
- I remember adding "weigh" to see also at "weight". This is not something which simply occurred to me; they are related. Pmlineditor Talk 04:42, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
Defining style
With verbs, please use that "If (subject) (verb),..." style, not "to (verb) is...". For nouns, please use "A (noun) is..." or "(noun) is..."--Brett 17:45, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
- My error. I shouldn't have used verbs as an infinitive. Pmlineditor Talk 04:42, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
Italics
Hi Pmlinediter. Thanks for creating so many entries! One note, though - when you're writing an example sentence in a definition, could you please make sure to italicise it? Thanks. Tempodivalse 17:08, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, I forgot that in the article. I know about it though and have added it in almost all other entries. Pmlineditor Talk 17:09, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
Re: Your Bot
Sorry for the late reply but I've just returned from a long break in editing. The server that my bot was hosted on has been taken offline and now I need to find another server. Regards, Maximillion Pegasus 01:38, 16 September 2009 (UTC)
- Ok fine. Thanks for replying. Pmlineditor Talk 16:25, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
exemplifying vs using
Examples sentences should exemplify the meaning and use of a word, not simply include the word in a sentence. Examples like The ~ was nowhere to be found fail to do this. The blank could be filled by almost any physical object. A sentence like There were long lines at some banks, as people traded in their old money for the new coins and banknotes is a little longer, but not particularly complex and much more indicative of the meaning and use of banknote.--Brett (talk) 12:59, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
- I see. I'll try to do this in my future edits. Thank you. Regards, Pmlineditor ∞ 13:00, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

Hey, I'm the one who you neglected the rollback not so long ago. as you can see, I've been working something on crosswiki action, and I wanted to get moving here, but I don't now where is a good place to start doing anti-vandalism work here. Can you guide me a little bit here so I can start on my editing? Thanks, RubiksMaster110 (talk) 19:49, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
- There is hardly any vandalism on this wiki. If you want to edit, you might crete an entry on, say, this list. Regards, Pmlineditor ∞ 12:05, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
Semi-active?
What's the deal with listing me as semi-active?--Brett (talk) 20:19, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
- 50 edits in 2 months is required for being active... when I moved you to semi-active, you had less than that. Pmlineditor ∞ 07:26, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry, looks like it was an error... I had accidentally set the default number of edits to 100 from 50, so I thought you were semi-active. Sorry! Pmlineditor ∞ 07:28, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

- The definition style here is generally sentential. Nouns should be defined as "A noun is a..." for singular countable nouns, "Noun is..." for uncountables, etc. Nouns should also be marked as countable or uncountable. Similarly, verbs are defined typically with conditions, for example, "If you eat, you...," taking into account whether the typical agent human, animal, inanimate, etc. Verbs are noted as being transitive, intransitive, linking.--Brett (talk) 16:13, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
- I try to do that for my entries... Pmlineditor ∞ 11:34, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
- OK, I just noticed that the style differed for common noun.--Brett (talk) 02:22, 17 February 2010 (UTC)

Hello. I came across a simple wiktionary interwiki link while patrolling new simple wiki pages. It's judoka. I searched the regular wiktionary and found it: http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/judoka May you please import it? I can't see much that needs simplifying. Thanks, Airplaneman talk 15:26, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
- Also, I came across a page: -na that had a nonexistent Template:suffix. Would it be OK to also import Template:suffix, Template:prefix, Template:compound, and Template:confix, or are they something different here? Thanks, Airplaneman talk 15:41, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
- Will do judoka. Regarding suffix, it was deleted per community consensus as it had been decided not to use such templates. IMHO, it will be best to post a thread in ST concerning it. If the community wants it, I'll import it. Pmlineditor ∞ 15:44, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
- OK, thanks. I'll just remove the deprecated template, then :). Regards, Airplaneman talk 17:05, 16 March 2010 (UTC)

Spaces in between header names and the equal signs
Hi there Pmlineditor. Can you please not add spaces in between the name of the headers in entries and the equals marks that mark the level of the headers please? Thanks, Razorflame 02:21, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
Hi Pmlineditor! Accordion to en.wiktionary and referencedictionary, this is, bizarrely, a legitimate word, it seems. Maybe we should restore it? (although I don't really see how this is a useful word for us to have.) Tempodivalse [talk]
- I didn't delete the real entry, which exists at hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia. The entry had been originally created at hippopotamonostrousisquipdtesdeliaphobia, which had been moved over redirect to hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia, without being patrolled. So I recreated the page, patrolled it and deleted it per general maintenance. Regards, Pmlineditor ∞ 07:54, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
- Oh, that's odd. I didn't think of that. Never mind then, sorry for the trouble. :-b Tempodivalse [talk] 15:07, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
