Hello, Deathgleaner, and welcome to the Simple English Wiktionary!

We hope you are happy editing here. Some helpful pages to begin with are Wiktionary:Community Portal, Wiktionary:Useful, Help:Contents, Wiktionary:Rules, and Wiktionary:How to edit.

If you want to talk with other members or ask a question, you can visit Wiktionary:Simple talk. Administrators can also help you with more difficult problems. You can also ask me for help. The best way to do that is to leave a message on my talk page. Just remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing "~~~~" (four tildes) at the end of your words.

Good luck and happy editing! · Tygrrr... 16:35, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much for your edits! I see you have jumped right in and created many new pages. Now that you are comfortable creating new entries, it would be a good time to look at some of the links in my message above. I think that Wiktionary:Entry layout explained would be especially helpful to you. Another useful thing would be to see some of the changes I've made to pages you created. Things that I've added are things that anyone can add and are simple ways to improve the quality of your new pages. If there's anything I can do to help you, please let me know. Thanks again, and happy editing! · Tygrrr... 16:52, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Simple wikt is monolingual[change]

I've removed your translations and translation templates. Unlike other wiktionary projects, Simple English Wiktionary is a monolingual wiktionary because there is no point in duplicating the translations already available in English Wiktionary.--Brett 12:45, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, there are no other simple wiktionaries as far as I know. But more than that, the other wiktionaries aim to include all words from all languages (e.g., en.wikt has the meaning of the Japanese work 難しい explained in English) plus translations into all languages. In contrast, simple.wikt only defines English words and includes no translations. Wikt for wiktionary as opposed to wiki which could apply to other projects like wikipedia, etc.--Brett 11:11, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
