Templates and categories

[change]

You will be glad to know that when we add a template like {{noun}} or {{verb}}, it is already set up to automatically add the category. So adding the category at the bottom is unnecessary. Also, see my comments/changes on some of the pages you've worked on. --Cromwellt|talk 01:19, 21 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

The links you've added to wiktionaries in other languages are problematic. The words have more than one definition, and often more than one part of speech. Usually each definition under each part of speech is a different word in another language. This is why on the English Wiktionary, instead of interwiki links, they add a translation section, with each definition translated separately. We have not yet made a policy on translation, but I think there are pros and cons. The ultimate goal of this wiki is not to have all words in all languages as it is with others like the English Wiktionary, but only to define English words using simple English definitions. Because of this, I think my personal preference would be to leave the translation to the English Wiktionary, at least for now.

As far as current practice, we have been adding one interwiki link, to the English Wiktionary entry for the same word, for those who want more information (in more complex language). Before we add more interwikis, why don't we talk about this on Wiktionary:Simple talk? --Cromwellt|talk 01:42, 21 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

You've certainly made a dramatic reentry. Thanks for all your work!--Brett 13:32, 1 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

BNC spellings

[change]

The BNC is the British National Corpus, so all the spellings will be British. We endeavour to be inclusive, so there's not point in switching a bunch of UK to US spellings or the other way round. Thanks again for all your recent work.--99.239.156.122 02:14, 3 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I understand what the BNC is, it's just that the actual definition of the word is on the page with the US/Canadian spelling.--TBC 07:29, 3 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Congratulations on BNC1000

Categories

[change]

Hey, TBC! Good to see you over here helping out. Going through some of your page creations, I noticed that you add categories for the different parts of speech (e.g. Category:Nouns, Verbs, etc). I wanted to let you know that the templates {{noun}}, {{verb}}, etc add these categories automatically so you don't have to worry about adding them separately at the bottom of the page as well. Keep up the good work! :-) · Tygrrr... 15:49, 7 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I think you might find my comment here about Pronunciation sections to be helpful. It's a short little guide about how to format this section since it's slightly more complicated than a simple copy-paste. I think you'll find it easy enough to understand, but if you've got any questions about it, feel free to ask. :-) · Tygrrr... 12:46, 9 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oh, thanks. It was a default summery by my browser and I didn't really want to type out a long reason. But thanks for the encouragement! Cheers -- AmericanEagle 17:08, 18 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I hereby award you this barnstar for making my new pages patrolling simultaneously easier and harder--easier because they're such good quality and harder because there are so darn many of them! :-P Keep up the great work!!! - Tygrrr 21:40, 22 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Request for neutral opinion

[change]

Hi! I was wondering if you would mind checking out this situation. I'd be interested in getting an outside opinion of how we should deal with this. Thanks, TBC! · Tygrrr... 20:12, 6 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi TBC! Just in case you didn't receive the email notification, there is currently a discussion on whether to remove sysop rights from your account, see this. You can make a statement if you wish. Cheers, Tempodivalse [talk] 01:05, 4 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi there! Per the vote here, I requested the removal of your sysop rights on simplewikt on meta. THe steward M7 removed your right. Thanks for your service here! Kind regards --Barras (talk) 23:29, 4 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
