Linking to Wikipedia

[change]

Hi Monobi. I wanted to talk to you about adding {{wikipedia}} to every page. Usually it is a good idea to talk with the community before you add something to every article on the project. I'm just not sure that we need a link to Wikipedia for every word, because there are some pages that do not (and may not any time soon) have a corresponding page on Simple English Wikipedia. As I'm sure you can understand, there are some words that are appropriate for an encyclopedia, some that are appropriate for a dictionary, and some that will exist in both. I think that what most people try to do is link to the Wikipedia page for topics that will have much more information at Wikipedia and, on Wikipedia, only link to pages here that will have more information than is given there. It's just a little surprising to see that you are adding this template without seeing if others think it's useful or not. I know we're supposed to be bold but I'm just not sure I can see the benefit of what you're doing. Perhaps you can help me see what you're thinking. Thank you. · Tygrrr... 21:39, 19 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Would you mind please talking to me before continuing to add it to every page? Thank you. · Tygrrr... 21:45, 19 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
Is there a particular reason you are ignoring me and the little orange bar at the top of your page? Frankly, I am more than a little put off by your actions right now. I think you're being quite rude. I would still like to talk to you about why you think this is useful. · Tygrrr... 21:51, 19 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Just to let you know, I am leaving work now and will probably not be able to reply for a few hours, but I look forward to talking with you. Thanks again. · Tygrrr... 22:01, 19 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
