Help:Searching

From Wiktionary
See also Wikimedia's Meta-Wiki for this page.

MediaWiki search tools

You can search Wiktionary using the search box on the left.

The Go button will take you to an article with the exact title entered in the search box.
The Search button generates a list of articles containing the words entered using the Lucene search. To search for a phrase, enclose it in quotes. Once on the search page, you can select "Exact-case search" to use the more advanced diacritics-folding option.

You can also find words by following the 'quick links' on the Main Page.

External tools

Another option is using external search engines:

Browser plugins

Mozilla Firefox users can install a search plugin for Wiktionary from mycroft.mozdev.org, which uses this site's search function.

Bookmarklets

There's also a bookmarklet available. See Wiktionary:Tips and tricks/Bookmarklets for that.
