Welcome![change]

Hello, Coni Prislop, and welcome to the Simple English Wiktionary!

We hope you will be happy editing here. Some helpful pages to begin with are Wiktionary:Community Portal, Wiktionary:Useful, Help:Contents, Wiktionary:Rules, Wiktionary:How to change a page, and Help:Creating a new entry.

If you want to talk with other members or ask a question, you can visit Wiktionary:Simple talk. Administrators can also help you with more difficult problems. You can also ask me for help. The best way to do that is to leave a message on my talk page. Just remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing "~~~~" (four tildes) at the end of your words.

Good luck and happy editing!

On a personal note, I wanted to add that, while we appreciate you being bold, there were a few issues with your first edit some time ago. Everyone makes mistakes, so please don't be discouraged just because you were reverted. I'm glad to see you came back and correctly brought up your complaint on the definition's talk page. The word slope may well be a cognate with the word you mentioned in Romanian. That is very interesting, but, for one thing, you put the information directly into the dictionary entry as a comment, rather than as an integral part of the entry, following the format rules and so on. For another, your definition of the Romanian word does not match the English definitions at all. Perhaps you were confused by the picture and the similarities in spelling? I did a little research, and found that the definition in the regular English Wiktionary says the noun is correctly translated as "pantă", not what you said. They say your term, "prislop" in English means 1. Saddle, ridge; or 2. Pass, col. You'll notice that none of those is "slope".

But there is a deeper issue with your edit: unlike most Wiktionaries, this one is made to be a resource mainly for people who don't speak English well, and one of the ways we're focusing on that is, at least for now, we're limiting ourselves to only defining English words and we are not including any translations. The type of contribution you tried to make would be welcomed on the English Wiktionary, but it doesn't fit here. That being said, take a look at some of the helpful pages mentioned near the top of my welcome above and feel free to contribute. Just try to follow our rules, thanks! --Cromwellt|talk|contribs 05:53, 13 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
