Imports

Is there really a need to import so many MW namespace pages? Minorax (talk) 03:29, 13 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Minorax: The MediaWiki namespace pages that I imported are needed to allow the Editnotice feature to be available in each namespace that we have in our project. The numbers in their title match to each namespace (full list can be seen at w:en:Wikipedia:Namespace#Programming). Of course there is no need to import every editnotice page at enwiki (they have more namespaces than us), the namespace structure of simplewiki is close enough to ours so importing simplewiki editnotice pages will be enough for us but not too much. Does this make sense to you? MathXplore (talk) 06:01, 13 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Noted on the use of the pages but why didn't you consider just creating these pages locally? Minorax (talk) 08:52, 13 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Minorax: I wanted to emphasize that this is not my original creation but reusing technical features established at other Wikimedia projects. MathXplore (talk) 09:10, 13 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry if I sound rude but I would actually suggest that you refrain from fixing things that are not broken and contribute in expanding our word vault instead. Minorax (talk) 10:42, 15 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, I appreciate your feedback and will follow your advice at my availability. MathXplore (talk) 12:25, 15 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion request

I don’t know how you guys mark things for deletion here but this should be one Utopia (which it appears you just got). But for my info, how would I mark such an entry? PotsdamLamb (talk) 19:06, 29 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Y Done. Please see WT:QD for our deletion policy. MathXplore (talk) 01:45, 1 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

AWB

Hi, can you use AWB here? Kk.urban (talk) 22:46, 22 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

According to Wiktionary:AutoWikiBrowser/CheckPage#For_allowed_users, yes I can. In addition, user:Minorax and user:DannyS712 are experienced AWB users. How can we help you? MathXplore (talk) 02:29, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I believe "see also" should be changed to "related words" on all dictionary entries. Kk.urban (talk) 02:30, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Per WT:ELE/RW, I agree with the need for such actions. @Minorax:, would you like to handle this task via AWB? MathXplore (talk) 02:52, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'll do this over the weekend. --Min☠︎rax«¦talk¦» 12:35, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your cooperation. MathXplore (talk) 01:45, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Should be done now, made some mistakes along the way so do edit accordingly when anyone seems them --Min☠︎rax«¦talk¦» 11:24, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Now I'm worried I may have been wrong to change "see also" to "related words" on fuchsia. @Brett, Hydriz, Coppertwig: should this be "see also" or "related words"? Kk.urban (talk) 16:05, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Related words are etymologically, not semantically related. See also should rarely be used. Brett (talk) 21:32, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Brett In this case, the words were "fuchsia" and "magenta". Should that be "see also"? Kk.urban (talk) 21:33, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
🤷🏼 Brett (talk) 21:34, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think "related words" are specific, while "see also" looks simpler but vague. In the same manner, simplewiki uses "Related pages" (w:WP:MOS). MathXplore (talk) 01:48, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think that user:Hydriz is currently active. MathXplore (talk) 01:48, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
