I don't have time to think it through right now. Perhaps you could. CGEL asserts this analysis, but doesn't argue for it on p. 570: "Though is an adverb when used in the sense “however” (It wasn’t very successful, though); elsewhere it is a preposition, usually taking a clausal complement and alternating with although (He couldn’t help us, though he certainly tried)."
