I like "links" better than "navigation" (much simpler), but I'm going to revert it anyway, and do it by way of MediaWiki:Navigation. --Cromwellt|talk|contribs 10:14, 3 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

On second thought, I'll just switch it. --Cromwellt|talk|contribs 10:16, 3 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
I changed the BNC1000 link to point to the compressed headwords list instead of the full list (which is very long and can cause loading problems). --Cromwellt|talk|contribs 04:59, 6 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Use your words[change]

If we're going to avoid using the standard terms "Latest changes" and "Random entry" in the sidebar, with the idea that using more common words will make these entries more understandable (something which, in this case, I am very skeptical about), then surely we can do better than "BE850" and "BNC1" — labels that will mean absolutely nothing to the vast majority of people who come to this wiki. I propose using "Basic English" in place of "BE850" and… I don't know, maybe "Common words", or something, for "BNC1". Better yet, use a single link for both resources (leading to, say, Wiktionary:Word lists?), with one of the labels I have suggested (since it's very difficult to distinguish between the two lists using short, simple phrases). - dcljr (talk) 23:04, 10 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Brett: Thoughts? Minorax (talk) 14:06, 11 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
I think these are good points, well worth doing.--Brett (talk) 14:09, 11 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
So remove BE850 & BNC1 and replace it with a [[Wiktionary:Word lists|Common words]]? Minorax (talk) 15:46, 11 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
Or "Most common words"? Or "Most used words"? Or simply "Word lists"? Hmm… I'll let y'all decide. - dcljr (talk) 00:29, 12 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
Used [[Wiktionary:Word lists|Word lists]] Minorax (talk) 01:26, 12 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
