Transitive verbs are those that take objects. You can try using the word "something" as an object and see if it works. In the case of pray, you could say, she prayed something, so it can be transitive. Most of the time, however, pray is used without an object. This depends, however, on whether you consider that clauses (e.g., she prayed that it would work) to be objects, and there is disagreement on this.--Brett (talk) 12:16, 12 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
