Attacking cannot be modified by very, too, so etc. It cannot be graded. It cannot come after a linking verb (e.g., *The dog remained attacking.) It is only a verb and not an adjective.--Brett 20:19, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

No, I'm afraid it doesn't. Compare shocking (also added today by Tygrr), which is an adjective, with attacking, a verb:

• The very shocking team. | *The very attacking team.
• The more shocking team. | *The more attacking team.
